Euromatch NPFL Preview: Can Kwara United break the jinx against Ikorodu City

By: Muiz Adeshina

Ikorodu City FC will host Kwara United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, on Saturday, 10 October 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 PM, as both sides battle for valuable points in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Kwara United will be looking to end their winless run against Ikorodu City in the NPFL, while also seeking their first away points of the season.

The Lagos-based side will head into this fixture with confidence, having enjoyed the better of previous meetings between the two teams. Ikorodu City have won twice and drawn twice in their last four encounters with Kwara United, leaving the Harmony Boys with a difficult record to overturn.

Ikorodu City will be eager to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Rivers United in their previous outing as they look to return to winning ways and regain momentum in front of their home supporters.

For Kwara United, the task will be to build on their resilience after coming from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Ranchers Bees. That comeback win will provide a timely confidence boost for the Harmony Boys as they prepare for another challenging away assignment.

However, history at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena presents another hurdle for Kwara United, with Ikorodu City having won their last two meetings against the Ilorin-based side at the venue.

With Ikorodu City looking to respond to their recent setback and Kwara United desperate to end their away-day struggles, both teams have plenty to play for.

Can Kwara United finally break their jinx against Ikorodu City, or will the Lagos-based side continue their dominance in this fixture? Saturday’s encounter promises an intriguing contest between a home side seeking a response and an away side desperate to change its fortunes on the road.
