Kwara United captain Abdulafeez Musa Olororo has officially announced his departure from the Harmony Boys after five memorable years, bringing an end to a remarkable spell defined by leadership, resilience, and historic success.
Olororo, who is now set to join Niger Tornadoes of Minna, penned an emotional farewell message to the club's management, coaches, teammates, supporters, and everyone who played a part in his journey.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Olororo described Kwara United as more than just a football club, saying it became his home and family.
"This is not an easy message to write because Kwara United has been more than just a football club to me—it has been my home, my family, and a place where I grew both as a footballer and as a person. Wearing the captain's armband and representing this great club has been one of the greatest honours of my career."
Beyond leading the club to the historic 2025 President Federation Cup triumph, Olororo highlighted the team's consistency in maintaining its Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) status throughout his five-year stay as another achievement he is immensely proud of.
"Every season came with its own challenges, but together we fought, stayed united and ensured Kwara United remained where it belongs—in the Nigeria Premier Football League. That resilience and togetherness will always remain special to me."
One of the most emotional parts of his farewell was his appreciation to the club for standing firmly behind him during one of the darkest moments of his career when he suffered a life-threatening injury.
The experienced defender revealed that the unwavering support he received from the club's hierarchy, technical crew, teammates and fans during his recovery remains something he will never forget.
"I will forever be grateful to Kwara United for the love and care shown to me during my life-threatening injury. At a time when everything seemed uncertain, the club stood by me, supported me and gave me the strength to believe I could return to football again. That compassion meant more to me than words can express."
Olororo also expressed profound gratitude to the club's Chairman Kumbi Titiloye and General Manager Bashir Badawiy for their confidence in him and for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the team.
"I sincerely thank our Chairman and General Manager for believing in me, trusting me with leadership responsibilities and supporting me throughout my journey. I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve this great club."
He equally acknowledged the immense contribution of the coaching crew, describing them as mentors who helped shape his career, while thanking his teammates for their unwavering support, unity and brotherhood over the years.
Olororo reserved his final appreciation for the club's passionate supporters, whose encouragement, he said, inspired him through every challenge and triumph.
"To the incredible fans and supporters, thank you for standing by us through every high and low. Your songs, prayers, encouragement and loyalty gave me strength every time I stepped onto the pitch. I may be leaving, but Kwara United will forever remain in my heart."
Abdulafeez Musa Olororo leaves Kwara United after five seasons in which he established himself as one of the club's most influential figures. Besides helping the Harmony Boys preserve their NPFL status year after year, he captained the team to its historic President Federation Cup triumph in 2025. His legacy at the club will be remembered not only for silverware but also for his resilience, loyalty, and inspirational leadership on and off the pitch.
