Another Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, El-Kanemi Warriors, begin their continental journey today against UDIB of Guinea-Bissau at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
Beyond the 90 minutes, all eyes will also be on the playing surface as the Monimichelle PRT pitch undergoes its first CAF matchday test of the season.
THE GAME
The Borno-based side will be hoping to start their campaign on a winning note in front of home fans, the clash against UDIB is crucial for El-Kanemi to build early momentum in Group stage qualification.
Kickoff is scheduled for today at the Remo Stars Stadium, a venue that has become a home for Nigerian clubs in CAF competitions.
PITCH READY FOR AFRICA
In the last 72 hours, Monimichelle Sports CEO Ebi Egbe and his GMA-certified grounds team have executed a full elite preparation program on the PRT surface.
The work included surface inspection, infill levelling, moisture management, ball-roll verification, and magnetic scanning to meet CAF competition standards.
"According to Ebi Egbe, "We do not prepare pitches merely to satisfy visual expectations or television presentation. We prepare them to deliver consistent, safe and competition ready performance".
Monimichelle stated ahead of the game.
The company emphasized that for CAF and FIFA games, "the pitch is not a secondary facility. It is a critical component of the competition infrastructure and directly influences the quality, safety and credibility of the match."
