CAFCC: We Are Ready To Make History Emmanuel King Declares as Elkanemi Warriors advance to next round



Coach of El-kanemi Warriors Emmanuel King has thrown down the gauntlet ahead of his side’s CAF Confederation Cup clash with Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic in Ikenne Ogun state, while speaking on his expectations for the game next month.


 The former Akwa Starlets and Dakada boss, who led El-Kanemi the  President Federation Cup winners to a victory over UDIB Of Guinea-Bissau, says his team is in Africa “to fight, not to participate.”


While speaking on his expectations said “My expectation is simple: 2 games of football, 180 minutes, and we will fight for every second.


Speaking further,  Do I believe we can overcome Raja? Yes. 100%. If I didn’t believe, I wouldn’t be here as coach of El-Kanemi Warriors.


Look, we know Raja are favorites, they have more experience in Africa, more titles, bigger budget. Nobody will argue that, But football is not played on paper anymore  It is played on the pitch. He said.



"We won the President Federation Cup to be here. We beat UDIB to reach this stage. That shows we have character. We are representing Nigeria, we are representing Borno, and we have a responsibility to make our people proud. He continued.


According to him, the plan is clear: We must be strong in Ikenne in the first leg. Get a good result at home. Then go to Casablanca with belief. If we defend well as a team, if we take our chances, and if we have the mentality of warriors, then yes, we can reach the group stage. He enthused.


"I am not promising anything to the media. I am only promising hard work from my players and to our fans. After the 2nd leg in Casablanca, we will see. But I believe in this group of young talented players who are ready and willing to make history.”






“We respect Raja, but we believe in ourselves, my expectation is to compete in both legs. Can we qualify? Yes, we believe we can. It will be difficult, but El-Kanemi Warriors are not here to just participate. We are here to fight and try to reach the next round for Nigeria.”




“Every goal counts in CAF. We want to win. We want to score. But most importantly we don't  want to  concede at home.”


“Our target is to represent Nigeria well. Win or lose, we will give everything. But our focus now is on how to win.”




“Raja have history. We are trying to make history. Let’s see who writes it in October.” Coach Emmanuel King concluded.

Meet Ilorin-born Soliu Ajia Yakubu,Flying Eagles Goalkeeper for AFCON  An Ilorin-born goalkeeper, Soliu Ajia Yakubu, will wear the Nigerian badge at the upcoming U20 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
