CAFCC: Coach King Emmanuel Says El-Kanemi Warriors Still a Work in Progress Despite 3-0 Win Over UDIB

El-Kanemi Warriors head coach, King Emmanuel, has described his side as a team still under construction despite their impressive 3-0 victory over UDIB of Guinea-Bissau in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round in Ikenne.

Emmanuel said the Warriors are yet to reach their desired level, stressing that the current squad has only been together for about four weeks. While pleased with the result, the coach maintained that the team must continue working and improving as they prepare for the return fixture.

“We have not arrived at that point. We are still participating. But at the right time, when we get there, you will see,” Emmanuel said when asked how pleased he was with his players’ performance.

The coach praised the players for the work they have put in, particularly in the area of physical conditioning, which he identified as one of the key areas of progress since the squad was assembled. He admitted that there is still more to be done despite the comfortable first-leg advantage.

Emmanuel, however, believes the victory has placed the Warriors in a strong position to advance, describing the result as giving him “higher hopes” and saying the club now has the key to qualifying for the second round and must hold on to it.

He also expressed appreciation to Borno State Governor, Babagana Umar Zulum, for his support for the club, while commending the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment for his efforts, which he said have greatly helped the team.

With a three-goal advantage heading into the second leg, Emmanuel said the Warriors must remain focused and complete the job, adding that having seen what happened in the first leg, the team has no option but to make their supporters happy in the return fixture.
