Kwara Sports Festival Medical Team Assures Athletes of Adequate Medical Care
The Medical Team at the ongoing 8th edition of the Kwara State Sports Festival has assured athletes and officials of adequate medical attention throughout the competition.
Speaking with sports writers, the Head of the Medical Team, Hajia Alhaja Afusat Adesoye, said the medical clinic at the festival venue is well equipped with sufficient medical facilities and drugs to cater for athletes who may require medical attention.
Alhaja Adesoye disclosed that the medical team comprises 15 personnel, including six members of the Red Cross, two physiotherapists and four nurses, among other medical personnel.
She noted that there had been no serious medical cases among the athletes since the commencement of the festival, noting that the team had so far attended to minor health complaints such as headaches, stomach pains and dislocations.
According to her, the medical team is on standby throughout the festival to ensure that athletes receive prompt and appropriate medical attention whenever the need arises.
She therefore urged athletes to promptly report any health challenge to the medical team instead of allowing minor injuries or illnesses to worsen.
The 8th Kwara State Sports Festival, which brings together athletes from the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, is holding at various venues in Ilorin and will run until August 29, 2026.
