Abdullahi Yusuf declares for Offa football council Chairman, picks nomination form 

The Chief Executive Officer of Abraysports, Mallam Abdullahi Yusuf Adekunle, has officially picked up the nomination form to contest for the chairmanship of the Offa Local Government Football Council.

Adekunle, who also serves as Kwara State Chairman of the Nationwide League One, NLO, and as a Match Commissioner, bought his form on Wednesday 5 August 2026 at the Kwara State Football Association secretariat inside the George Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Speaking with journalists shortly after purchasing the form, the former international said the time is right to give back to his community with the wealth of experience gathered as a player, club owner, and administrator.

"This is the right time for me to serve my people," Adekunle said. "Offa is blessed with abundant football talent. What we need now is visionary leadership that will harness that talent through digital football services and create platforms to expose our players to the world."

He promised to emulate the developmental strides of the Kwara FA Chairman, Mallam Musa Idris Abdullahi, fondly called 'Turaya', who he said has laid a solid foundation for football growth across the 16 local government areas.

"Football is big business, but it requires experts who understand the business to be in charge," he added. "I am ready to change the narrative in Offa. We have done a lot outside the state and in Kwara. Now it is time to come home and invest big in grassroots football development."

Adekunle cited the success of the GlobalScoutMe Football Tournament in Ilorin as a model he intends to replicate in Offa, describing it as "one of its kind and the talk of the town."

He assured aspiring footballers in Offa of more opportunities, better exposure, and structured development pathways if elected.

"My vision is clear. With your support, Offa will benefit immensely from the opportunities ahead for our players. This is a new dawn for Offa football," he said.

The Offa FA elections are scheduled to hold on 25 August 2026.
