Rock Solid Defender Azeez Yusuf Makes History with Second Federation Cup Triumph With Elkanemi Warriors


El-Kanemi Warriors defender Azeez Yusuf has further cemented his place in the club's recent success story after helping the Maiduguri side lift the 2026 President Federation Cup, making it two FA Cup titles in three years.

Yusuf produced a commanding defensive display as El-Kanemi Warriors edged Ikorodu City 1-0 in the final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, playing the entire 90 minutes and standing out as one of the team's best performers.

The composed centre-back marshalled the backline brilliantly, making crucial interceptions, timely clearances and dominant aerial challenges to ensure El-Kanemi Warriors kept a clean sheet on the biggest stage.

The latest triumph adds to the 2024 Federation Cup success, mavking Yusuf one of the few players in the current squad to have won the prestigious competition twice with the club in just three seasons.

Since joining El-Kanemi Warriors a few years ago, the former Kwara Football Academy graduate has enjoyed a remarkable rise. He played a vital role in helping the club gain promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League before becoming a key figure in their domestic cup successes.

Before his move to Maiduguri, Yusuf featured for ABS Ilorin FC, where he honed his skills and developed into one of the country's dependable defenders.

With two President Federation Cup winners' medals, an NPFL promotion, and another impressive final performance added to his résumé, Azeez Yusuf continues to establish himself as one of the most consistent defenders in Nigerian domestic football while writing his name into El-Kanemi Warriors' modern-day history.
