NLO 26: Yewa FA defeat FC Ebedei 1-0 to secure promotional playoff ticket


Yewa FA has secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over FC Ebedei on Wednesday in the rescheduled  Nationwide League One playoff match played at Maracanna Stadium in Ajegunle, Lagos.

It would be recalled that the game was initially abandoned in Akure on Saturday in a controversial manner where FC Ebedei players walked off the field.

The decisive moment came when Hadi Abdulsalam, who has scored 10 goals from 11 games in the current NLO campaign broke the deadlock in the 85th minute with an excellent display of composure, applying a calm finish to pass he expertly controlled inside the box to score the lone goal that gave his side the victory in the game.

Yewa boys were the dominant side in the game which started off from 41st minute where it was initially aborted. With the win, the Coach Abdulquadri Bolaji's side remained unbeaten in the current NLO campaign, winning 9 games, and drawing two out of eleven matches, including the playoff game.

Despite the off-field distractions, Yewa FA maintained its focus and ultimately got the result it needed on the pitch. The team will now shift attention to the promotional playoff to the NNL in a later date.

Speaking after the game, the administrator of Yewa FA. Mojeed Ibrahim, commended the players and officials for their brilliant performance. He noted that the despite the controversies surrounding the match, the team proved its resilience in the face of adversity and challenge.

"This is a proud moment for the team and i really commend the boys. Special thanks also goes to our founder, Promise David and our proprietor and father, Mr. Solomon David for their huge support towards this achievement". Ibrahim said.

He however called on the players and officials to remain focused ahead of the promotional playoff to NNL,even as he noted that the team's ultimate target is to secure promotion to the Nigeria's second tier league.
