Niger Tornadoes begins six-day closed camping in Abuja ahead of new NPFL season


Niger Tornadoes FC has commenced a six-day closed camping exercise in Bwari as preparations intensify for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The camping programme is designed to provide the technical crew with a conducive environment for intensive training, player screening, tactical drills, and team bonding ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking during the team's first training session in Bwari, Chairman of the Niger Tornadoes Management Committee, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso (Danwadatan Nupe), charged the players to uphold discipline, unity, commitment, and professionalism throughout the camping exercise and beyond.

According to Dr. Kuso, the decision to camp in Bwari was informed by the need to provide the coaches and players with a serene environment that encourages total concentration and effective preparation.
"We deliberately chose Bwari because it offers a safe and distraction-free environment for the team.

This is an opportunity for everyone to work hard, remain focused, and justify the confidence reposed in you. I encourage you to make the most of this camp as we build a formidable team for the new season," he said.

The chairman also reaffirmed the management's commitment to the welfare of the players, noting that creating the right atmosphere and providing the necessary support would enable the team to perform at its highest level and achieve its season target.

Technical Adviser Kabiru Dogo, in his address to the players, emphasized that discipline, commitment, and hard work would remain the key criteria for selection as the screening process continues.

He reminded the players that the commencement of the NPFL season is only a few weeks away, stressing the need to begin preparations on a strong note, as teams that start well often sustain their momentum throughout the season.

As part of the build-up to the new campaign, Niger Tornadoes will play a number of friendly matches during the camping exercise before participating in the Gusau/Ahlan Cup pre-season tournament in Katsina.
