Kwara horse show set for bigger return as preparations begin for second edition

In a bid to stage another successful event, the organisers of the Kwara Horse Show have commenced preparations for the second edition of the competition.

Regarded as one of Nigeria's fastest-growing equestrian events, the Kwara Horse Show debuted in November 2025 in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, featuring activities such as Horse Ball, Horse Parade and the adrenaline-pumping Horse Marathon.

Confirming the development on Thursday in Ilorin, the Convener of the Kwara Horse Show, Ambassador Bolaji Mogaji-Nda, disclosed that the second edition of the event will be bigger and better.

Mogaji said, "We are delighted to have commenced preparations for the second edition of the Kwara Horse Show. This year's edition will be bigger and better."

He added that the event would have an expanded scope this year, noting that the 2025 inaugural edition has set a benchmark for subsequent editions.

While stating that the date for the event will be announced in due course, Mogaji, who is also the Founder of BMN Stable, stressed that feedback from the first edition would serve as a guide in organising this year's event.

"We have received valuable feedback from participants and key stakeholders who attended the first edition. That is why we are starting preparations earlier to ensure we meet even higher standards," Mogaji remarked.

He added that registration for the event will commence in earnest and called on horse riders and enthusiasts to be part of the competition.

The maiden edition of the Kwara Horse Show featured a Horse Ball competition, regarded as the first of its kind on African soil. The well-attended event also featured a grand prize of a horse, won by one of the participants, alongside several other prizes
