Kwara SWAN Targets Coaches' Development with Media Advancement Workshop
In a move aimed at strengthening the capacity of football coaches in Kwara State, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), under the leadership of Mallam Ayodeji Ismail, has concluded plans to organise a one-day media advancement workshop for football coaches across the state.
The workshop is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Taiwo Awoniyi Sports Media Centre, Kwara SWAN Secretariat, George Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin, beginning from 9:00 a.m. prompt.
According to a statement signed by the Kwara SWAN Chairman, the media advancement seminar is designed to equip football coaches with essential media engagement skills, enhance their understanding of football administration in relation to the media, and provide valuable insights into career development within the modern football ecosystem.
The Chairman said, "This workshop has become important amid the evolving dynamics between the media and football, and as media professionals, we must help coaches bridge the gap by building their capacity with the right skills."
While noting that the workshop is in line with the WSID four-point agenda of the current administration, especially in the area of stakeholder engagement, he added that other areas of the agenda include welfare, training and opportunities for members, innovation and creativity, and transformational and inclusive leadership.
The Kwara SWAN Chairman further stated that participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts who have been scheduled to serve as facilitators at the workshop.
"This workshop represents our commitment towards building a thriving sports ecosystem in the state by enhancing the capacity of key actors and stakeholders to drive the needed growth and change," added the Kwara SWAN Chairman.
Billed to serve as a facilitator at the workshop is the Kwara-born former Flying Eagles of Nigeria Head Coach and Technical Adviser of Telecom SC of Egypt, Aliyu Zubair, who will deliver a session focused on "Modern Coaching Beyond Tactics: Building Visibility, Influence and Opportunities Through Media."
Participants will also have the opportunity to learn from experienced football administrator and Director of Football, ABS Ilorin FC, Alloy Chukwuemeka, who will take the coaches on "Football Administration: Media Relations and Career Growth for Coaches."
To round off the enriching sessions, Kwara's foremost digital skills trainer and expert, Ibrahim Kazeem, will deliver a presentation on "Digital Tools, Social Media and Personal Branding for Football Coaches."
