Kwara Kiddies League 5th Editon Kicks Off in Style as Sports Commission Boss, FA Chairman Grace Opening Day
The fifth edition of the Kwara Kiddies League officially got underway in grand fashion as top football stakeholders gathered to witness the start of another exciting grassroots football season in Kwara State.
The opening day ceremony was graced by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, alongside the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Abdullahi Musa Idris, as both dignitaries added prestige to the beginning of the 2026 campaign.
Mallam Mogaji, who has served as Patron of the Kwara Kiddies League since 2022, performed the ceremonial opening rituals alongside the Kwara FA Chairman before remaining to watch all four matches played on the opening day. Addressing stakeholders, club officials, coaches, players and supporters, he encouraged everyone to enjoy the excitement and developmental value of what he described as one of the biggest grassroots football tournaments in Nigeria.
A total of four matches were played on the opening day, producing goals, drama and strong statements from title hopefuls.
The curtain-raiser saw Unicorn FA secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Barca Kiddies FA thanks to an early strike from Abubakar Muhammed in the 9th minute, handing Unicorn the first win of the new season.
The second fixture delivered more excitement as Achievers FA came from behind to defeat Surprise FA 2-1 in a lively contest. Daud Taofiq opened the scoring in the 47th minute before Jamiu Uthman doubled Achievers’ advantage two minutes later. Bilal Ajao pulled one back for Surprise FA in the 58th minute, but Achievers held firm to claim maximum points.
One of the standout performances of the day came from KFA, who recorded an emphatic 6-1 victory over Busari FA. Eko Martins opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 10th minute before Godstime Obinna added another in the 16th minute. Tobi Adeoye stole the spotlight with a hat-trick, scoring in the 27th, 44th and 60th minutes, while Samad Afolayan also got on the scoresheet in the 29th minute. Busari FA’s consolation came through Hussein Abdulfatai from the penalty spot in the 19th minute.
The final game of the day saw Koller FA edge Rectitude FA 2-1 to round off an entertaining opening day of football action.
