Kwara home-based to battle Foreign players in Harmony stars showcase novely match on Tuesday



Football enthusiasts in Kwara State are eagerly awaiting the maiden edition of the Harmony Stars Showcase Programme, which is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

The much-anticipated event, organised by the Kwara State Foreign and Home-Based Professional Footballers Association, will bring together some of the state's finest football talents in a novelty match between foreign-based and home-based professional players of Kwara origin.

The showcase is expected to attract football stakeholders, coaches, scouts, sports administrators, fans, and aspiring young footballers from across the state and beyond, as the organisers continue efforts to promote football development and celebrate Kwara's rich sporting heritage.

Speaking ahead of the event, the organisers described the programme as more than just a football match, noting that it is a platform designed to unite Kwara-born professionals playing in different parts of the world while inspiring the next generation of talents.

They explained that the initiative would also create opportunities for interaction, mentorship, and knowledge sharing between established professionals and young players hoping to build successful careers in football.

The organisers further disclosed that several notable football personalities and sports stakeholders have confirmed their attendance, adding that the event promises to be an exciting gathering of football stars and lovers of the game.

Football fans are expected to witness thrilling displays of skill, experience, and professionalism as players who have excelled in various leagues across Nigeria and abroad return home to showcase their talents and reconnect with their roots.
