Kwara-born Scholar, Mohammed Abubakar Appointed AI Centre Director at FULafia
The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof Mohammed Isa Kida has elevated Kwara born International Scholar, Dr. Mohammed Abubakar Mohammed to the position of Director, Centre for Artificial intelligence.
The Management announced Dr. Mohammed’s elevation on June 19, 2026 via FULafia Bulletin. Recall that the University six months ago the Deputy Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence.
His elevation was attributed to his excellent performance and smooth implementation of Artificial Intelligence policies of the Institution.
Dr. Mohammed hails from Tsaragi, Edu Local Government of Kwara State. He is the son of Dr. M. N Haruna (Walin of Tsaragi). A retired Director from Presidency,Abuja, former Director of DIFRRI, Kwara State and former commissioner of works and Commerce and Industry in Kwara State.
He earned a B.Tech degree in Geology from Federal University of Technology, Minna. He holds a Master of Science in Petroleum Geosciences from Obafemi Awolowo University, lle-lfe and PhD in Development and Exploitation of oil and Gas Field at Khazar University in Europe and a Ph.D in Geology from Gideon Robert University in Zambia.
The Petroleum Geoscientists joined Energy and Mineral Resources, Lagos in 2015 and worked on seismic data from Taranaki Basin, New Zealand which forms part of his MSc thesis in Petroleum Geosciences. He has since then published many journals in the field of Geosciences.
He served as the Senior Special Assistant on Solid Minerals Development to Kwara State Governor in his first tenure.
Dr Mohammed recently returned to Nigeria after is working as a Lecturer in a prestigious University abroad.
