The President of Pape Football Academy and Executive Director, Planning and Design, Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority (UNRBDA), Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso (Dan Wadatan Nupe), has commended the sports development initiatives of Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, describing them as a major catalyst for youth empowerment and football growth across the state.

Dr. Kuso made the remarks while receiving former Niger Tornadoes player, Aliko Mustapha, alongside the Assistant Captain of Niger Professionals, Eric Frimpong, on a courtesy visit where discussions centered on football development and youth empowerment in Niger State was discussed.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Niger Professionals representatives to engage with Dr. Kuso on issues affecting football players in the state, particularly during screening and selection exercises, where many talented players are often unable to secure the necessary support and encouragement required to advance their careers.

They explained that Niger Professionals serves as a platform that brings together professional footballers from the state, providing opportunities for players to remain active and competitive through friendly and competitive matches organized across the country. According to them, the initiative also promotes mentorship, networking, talent identification, and unity among football professionals.

Responding, Dr. Kuso praised the efforts of the group and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the development of football and the empowerment of young people.

He described sports as a vital tool for social development, youth engagement, and economic empowerment, stressing that sustained investment in football would help discover talents, reduce social vices, and create pathways for young people to achieve their dreams.

The Pape Football Academy President also lauded Governor Umaru Bago for what he described as a sports revolution in Niger State, noting that the administration's investments in sporting infrastructure and youth-focused programmes have positively impacted communities across the state.

According to him, the governor's commitment to sports development has not only enhanced the state's sporting profile but has also provided meaningful opportunities for youths, helping to improve productivity and reduce crime and other social vices.

Dr. Kuso further assured the delegation of his willingness to collaborate with stakeholders and football development groups to advance the game in the state and ensure that more young talents are discovered and nurtured.

He emphasized that collective efforts by government, private organizations, football academies, and sports enthusiasts remain crucial to building a sustainable football structure capable of producing future stars for Niger State and Nigeria.

The visit ended with a renewed commitment from both parties to work together in promoting grassroots football development and expanding opportunities for aspiring footballers across the state.
