Dr. Kuso assumes duty as Niger Tornadoes Chairman
Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso (Dan Wadatan Nupe), has officially assumed office as the Chairman of Niger Tornadoes Football Club following the presentation of his appointment letter by the Permanent Secretary, Niger State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Nuhu Garba Ngaski, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Minna on Monday.
During the presentation ceremony, Dr. Nuhu Garba Ngaski warmly welcomed Dr. Kuso to the Ministry and congratulated him on his well-deserved appointment. He urged the management and staff of Niger Tornadoes Football Club to accord the new Chairman their maximum support, cooperation, and loyalty to enable him to effectively discharge his responsibilities and reposition the club for greater success.
He also charged the new Chairman of guiding the club to a top-three finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and securing a continental ticket at the end of the season
"We want to see Niger Tornadoes finish among the first three teams in the league. That is the challenge before this management. The Niger State Government has consistently supported the club, and that support will continue," he said.
Dr. Ngaski expressed confidence in the capacity of the new chairman to deliver on the mandate and urged members of the management committee to work collectively towards achieving the club's objectives" he said.
He furthr stated that the expectations of Nigerlites and football enthusiasts were high, stressing that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support for the club. He advised the chairman to uphold transparency and assemble a competitive squad capable of making the state proud. He congratulated the newly constituted management committee and wished them a successful tenure
In his remarks, Dr. Kuso expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Niger State, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, for the confidence reposed in him through the appointment. He assured that he would bring his wealth of experience, dedication, and commitment to bear in moving Niger Tornadoes Football Club to greater heights.
He commended the immediate past management for their achievements over the last three years, particularly for sustaining the club's NPFL status, while promising to build on that foundation by raising the team's standard and securing one of the league's continental tickets.
"I am fully aware of the enormous responsibility that comes with managing a club of Niger Tornadoes' stature. I understand the passion of our supporters, and we will develop a template that promotes player development, adds value to the team, and guarantees sustained success," he said.
As part of his familiarisation tour, Dr. Kuso inspected facilities within the Ministry’s premises, including the operational buses belonging to the club. Following the inspection, he directed that immediate repairs and maintenance be carried out on the buses to ensure they are restored to optimal condition for effective operations and the welfare of the team.
The visit underscores Dr. Kuso’s readiness to commence work immediately and his commitment to improving the operational efficiency and overall performance of Niger Tornadoes Football Club.
