Atule Eyes New Heights After Eight-Goal Impact Season at Barau FC

Barau FC winger Joseph Atule has set his sights on building on a brilliant 2025/2026 campaign after emerging as one of the Nigeria Premier Football League season’s top performers.

The 24-year-old scored eight goals in all competitions for the Kano-based outfit following his mid-season arrival from former champions Enyimba.

Atule began his NPFL journey with Katsina United in 2019 before moving abroad to further his career. On his return to Nigeria in 2022, he joined his home-state club Lobi Stars, where his standout displays attracted interest from Enyimba. He made the switch to Aba even as Lobi were later relegated to the Nigeria National League [NNL].

At the People’s Elephant, he proved his mettle in continental competition, scoring important goals in CAF games and growing into one of the league’s most reliable wide players.

Since joining Barau FC during the January transfer window, the winger hit the ground running, finishing the season with eight goals. His directness, end product, and big-game contributions were vital as his ability helped Barau maintain their status in the NPFL.

Off the pitch, Atule says his focus is on fine-tuning his game. He is working on his weaker foot, set-piece delivery, and overall goal contributions. With a full campaign ahead in Barau colours, he believes those improvements will translate into more assists, more goals, and a stronger push for silverware.

Atule is determined to raise the bar. With a full pre-season under his belt and confidence from last term’s performances, he is targeting an even better output in 2026/2027.

“I’m grateful for how last season went, but I’m not done yet,” Atule said. “The goal is to build on it, be more consistent, score more, and help Barau FC achieve bigger things next season.”

Atule’s mid-season arrival proved timely for Barau FC. His goals were crucial in helping the Kano side survive relegation in their debut NPFL campaign, securing their place among Nigeria’s top-flight for another season.
