Isin defeat Irepodun to retain Kwara south unity title

Defending champions Isin Local Government successfully retained their crown at the second edition of the Kwara South Unity Football Tournament, defeating Irepodun Local Government 1-0 in a thrilling final to emerge back-to-back champions.
Having lifted the trophy in the maiden edition, Isin entered this year's competition as favourites and lived up to expectations with another impressive campaign. They topped Group A with seven points, finishing ahead of Irepodun, before advancing to the knockout stage.
In Group B, Offa Local Government finished first while Ifelodun claimed the second qualification spot. The semi-final fixtures produced exciting encounters as Isin overcame Ifelodun to book a place in the final, while Irepodun edged Offa to set up a title clash against the defending champions.
The final lived up to its billing, with both sides displaying determination and quality. However, Isin proved their championship pedigree once again, scoring the decisive goal to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory and retain the trophy.
Beyond the competition, the tournament reinforced its objective of promoting unity and fostering stronger ties among communities across Kwara South. Football served as a platform to bring together people from different local government areas in an atmosphere of friendship, sportsmanship and healthy rivalry.
The organisers thanked the Kwara State Government, through the Kwara State Sports Commission, for its support and sponsorship, which contributed significantly to the success of the tournament.

With another successful edition concluded, attention now shifts to the future as stakeholders look forward to an even bigger and more competitive tournament in the years ahead.
