Highlanders Football Academy Igbaja to be unveiled during Ileya festival, seeks more support for young talents
The Highlanders Football Academy has continued to make steady progress in its mission to develop grassroots football, with plans underway to officially unveil the academy during the forthcoming Eid al-Adha Ileya celebration in Igbaja.
Following the success of its recent screening exercise, which attracted over 60 young players across the community, the academy has moved into its next phase of structured training and development. The planned unveiling during the Ileya festival is expected to showcase the academy’s vision, activities, and emerging talents to the wider community and potential partners.
The management of the academy expressed deep appreciation to individuals and stakeholders who have supported the initiative so far. Their contributions, both financial and moral, have played a vital role in sustaining the academy’s activities and giving young players a platform to pursue their football dreams.
Special gratitude was extended to key supporters who have already made donations and pledged continued assistance, noting that their encouragement has strengthened the foundation of the academy.
Despite the progress recorded, the academy emphasized the need for more sponsorship and support, particularly in providing essential training equipment for the players.
According to the Abubakar Olasunkanmi Quadri the Sporting Director, many of the young footballers currently lack basic gear, especially original soccer boots, which are crucial for proper training, performance, and injury prevention.
“We are appealing to well-meaning individuals, organizations, and corporate bodies to partner with us,” a representative of the academy stated. “These boys have talent and determination, but they need the right tools to succeed. Providing them with quality football boots and equipment will go a long way in shaping their future.” he said.
The academy reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing discipline, teamwork, and excellence among young players, adding that the Ileya unveiling will mark a significant milestone in its journey toward becoming a hub for football development in the region.
As preparations continue for the unveiling event, Highlanders Football Academy remains optimistic that increased support will help it expand its impact and create more opportunities for aspiring footballers in Igbaja and beyond.
