A FIFA-licensed player intermediary and Chairman of Niger Tornadoes FC, Engr. Ibrahim Dada Maikunkele, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Bosso–Paikoro Federal Constituency, following a rerun primary election conducted on Tuesday.

Engr. Dada, a structural engineer and former State Coordinator of the Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP), had earlier taken a clear lead in the initial primary election held on Saturday. However, the exercise was declared inconclusive due to logistical challenges encountered in some wards across the constituency.

The rerun election, which took place in Bosso Central and Chanchaga wards of Bosso Local Government Area, as well as selected wards in Paikoro Local Government Area, provided a decisive outcome, with Engr. Dada securing a total of 6,491 votes to clinch the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Announcing the results, Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primary Election Committee, Abdullahi Muhammad Abubakar, noted that the committee had earlier concluded and declared results for nine out of the ten federal constituencies in Niger State, with Bosso–Paikoro left pending due to the earlier inconclusive exercise.

He disclosed that Engr. Dada polled 6,491 votes to defeat incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Yusuf Kure Baraje, who garnered 1,109 votes. Other contestants included Kabiru Jazu with 720 votes, Ladidi Bawa Bosso with 639 votes, and Adamu Bako, who scored 57 votes.

Abubakar stated that Engr. Dada, having satisfied all requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and scored the highest number of valid votes cast, was duly declared winner of the primary election.

“Engineer Ibrahim Dada, having met all stipulated requirements and secured the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the Bosso–Paikoro Federal Constituency primary election and returned elected,” he announced.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Dada expressed gratitude to the leadership of the APC in Niger State, as well as stakeholders and party members across Bosso and Paikoro local government areas, for ensuring a level playing field during the exercise.

He also thanked delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he would justify their trust and remain committed to advancing the collective interests of the constituency.

The APC flag bearer further called for unity among party members, emphasizing the need for collective effort ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The task ahead requires unity and commitment. Victory at the primaries is only the beginning; we must now work together to ensure the success of all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections,” he said.
