Biffo urges fan education to boost NPFL, NNL standards
Fans and supporters have been urged to embrace proper conduct and education to enable clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria National League (NNL) to thrive and maintain high standards.
Former Kwara United coach, Abdullahi Usman Biffo, gave the charge during a Hard Talk session organized by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State chapter, held at the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Sports Centre, George Innih Stadium, on Friday, May 1, 2026.
Biffo noted that for clubs to succeed within Nigeria’s football ecosystem, supporters must play their roles responsibly to aid the growth and development of the leagues.
He decried the frequent cases of misconduct by fans, which have often brought matches into disrepute across various centres.
According to him, for Nigerian leagues to compete favorably with others across Africa, club administrators must consistently sensitize and re-orient supporters on appropriate behaviour.
While acknowledging the vital role fans play as key stakeholders, Biffo stressed that indiscipline and unruly conduct would continue to hinder clubs if not addressed.
He, however, advised supporters to accept match outcomes in good faith, reminding them that football is a game of win, loss, or draw.
