The 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season begins on Friday with a high-profile match, highlighted by a major technological enhancement—the game will be live-streamed on the new website using AI cameras.

Fans are already looking ahead to the new season following the full groupings release.

Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, NLO's Chief Operating Officer (COO), speaks confidently as the season approaches.

"We are excited to start the season today (Friday) at McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi, Benue State.

"The match between Flight FC and NYSC FC promises to be an engaging one and will highlight NLO's style of football.

"The season's first game is scheduled for Friday, 10 April 2026, with all other fixtures starting next weekend.

"The fixture schedule, set against the Stadium League, ensures maximum rest for players and proper planning for upcoming MatchDays.

"Additionally, in a move that may disappoint some but reflects NLO's commitment to transparency, the fixtures specify how group winners will be decided through a single-leg playoff."

Meet Ilorin-born Soliu Ajia Yakubu,Flying Eagles Goalkeeper for AFCON  An Ilorin-born goalkeeper, Soliu Ajia Yakubu, will wear the Nigerian badge at the upcoming U20 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
