Massive turnout as Aliu Olamilekan Bello declares for Ilorin South constituency seat
........promises to deliver dividends of democracy
The founder of AOB Foundation, Aliu Olamilekan Bello, has declared his intention to contest for the Ilorin South Constituency seat at the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Olamilekan, popularly known as 'Mr Empowerment,' made the declaration at the APC Secretariat of Balogun Fulani Ward II on Friday evening amid wild excitement and jubilation from party members.
Warmly received by a large crowd of supporters who trooped out en masse to welcome him, Bello stated that his decision to represent the constituency is driven by his desire to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
"My focus is to bring more dividends of democracy to our people in areas of youth and women empowerment, infrastructure and tech-driven opportunities for our youths," stated Bello who noted that he understands the need of the constituency.
He emphasised the significance of investing in the youths and noted that as a youth advocate himself, their interest will be protected through his representation.
"Youths are the future of the society and as a youth ambassador, I will ensure that their interest will remain a top priority," he said.
Bello further pledged that if given the opportunity, "90% of our constituents will be grateful to me because of the good plans we have for them."
He expressed his delight at the massive turnout of party faithful and thanked all the party executives, stakeholders and members for their support.
Earlier in his own remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Balogun Fulani Ward II, Mr. Omotosho Gbodofu, said Bello's ambition represents hope and aspiration of the ward to produce elective office holders in the next dispensation.
The chairman said, "We have been yearning to also have an elected office holder from our ward for a long time and we are very happy to see strong candidates like Olamilekan Bello emerge from our ward. We are truly proud of him and wish him well in his pursuit."
Coordinator of AOB Movement, Isiaka Jamiu, urged the party members to support Olamilekan Bello, noting that his track record and experience will be of great benefit to the constituents.
Meanwhile, Bello had earlier in the day submitted his letter of intent to contest for the Ilorin South Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly at the Ilorin South APC Secretariat, where he was warmly received by the Party Chairman, Honourable Ambali Abdulhakeem Jaji, and other key party stakeholders.
Bello's track record of giving back to society with several empowerment programmes, social intervention and educational support for students through his foundation has endeared him to many people who expressed their confidence in his capacity to deliver if given the opportunity.
His entry into the race has also further redefine the political landscape of the consitutency with his academic, experience and political networks placing him at an advantage amongst other aspirants.
