......speaks on team's journey and future dream

A 200-level student of Human Kinetics Education at the University of Ilorin, Coach Abdulwahab Muyhideen Olawale, popularly known as Coach Muideen, has etched his name into local football history after guiding Model Queens to victory in the Kwara FA/Flow FM Federation Cup.

Coach Muideen, who has been balancing his academic pursuit with coaching responsibilities, attributed his success to discipline, passion, and effective time management.

According to him, he approaches both education and coaching as serious responsibilities rather than competing priorities. He noted that while school builds his knowledge and future, coaching strengthens his leadership ability, discipline, and impact within the community. Despite the challenges of combining studies with football management, he emphasized that vision and purpose have helped him remain focused.

The young tactician revealed that his coaching journey began in 2015, before establishing Model Queens in 2020 with a clear philosophy built on discipline, sportsmanship, and development. Since its formation, the team has grown steadily and currently boasts more than 35 players, all working toward personal and collective growth within the sport.

Speaking on the team’s journey, Coach Muideen highlighted financial constraints as the major obstacle facing the club. He explained that securing funds for equipment, kits, and training gear remains a continuous challenge, noting that adequate financial support is vital for the proper development of players and improvement of their skills.

Despite these challenges, Model Queens have recorded remarkable achievements in recent years. The team finished third at the Offa Tournament in both 2023 and 2024, secured second place in the APFAN League in 2024, claimed third position at the Ede Tournament in 2024, and finished as runners-up at the YSFON Tournament in 2025.

Their breakthrough successes include winning the maiden Aduni Onigbin Championship in 2025 and emerging champions of the Kwara State Federation Cup in 2026.

Reflecting on the latest triumph, Coach Muideen described winning the Federation Cup as a moment of pride, fulfilment, and history for the team. He said the victory symbolized the sacrifices, hard work, and belief demonstrated by the players and technical crew over the years.

He added that the achievement was not only about lifting a trophy but also about proving that dedication and teamwork can produce exceptional results.

Looking ahead, the coach stated that his immediate target is to build a strong and disciplined team capable of competing consistently at the highest level while nurturing young talents.

He further revealed that the long-term vision for Model Queens is to become one of the leading female football academies in Nigeria, with ambitions of featuring on the national league stage and inspiring the next generation of female footballers.
