Highlanders Football Academy concludes successful screening in Igbaja
Young football talents in Igbaja and its surrounding communities turned out in impressive numbers as the Highlanders Football Academy successfully concluded its week-long screening exercise held between 5th and 10th April, 2026.
The screening, which was organised to discover and nurture budding football talents, attracted 65 participants within the 9–18 years age category. The exercise provided an opportunity for young players across Igbaja and neighbouring towns to showcase their football skills and passion for the game.
Speaking after the exercise, the organisers of the event, Follysports consultant expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the level of talent displayed during the screening sessions. They noted that the academy remains open to aspiring footballers within Igbaja and its environs who are interested in developing their skills in a structured and professional environment.
The academy also announced that training sessions for newly admitted players will officially commence on 22nd April, 2026, marking the beginning of a new phase for the selected participants as they embark on their football development journey.
Special appreciation was extended to the coaches who supervised the screening exercise, particularly Coach Azeez Akogun and Coach Inawole, whose dedication and technical guidance were instrumental to the success of the programme.
The successful completion of the screening exercise underscores the growing commitment of Highlanders Football Academy to youth development and grassroots football, as the academy continues to create opportunities for young talents to grow and pursue their dreams in the sport.
