Gaa Akanbi FC seeks sponsors, partners ahead of federation cup campaign

One of the clubs representing Kwara State in this year President Federation Cup, GAA Akanbi Football Club has called for sponsors and partners ahead of its participation in the Nigeria's oldest competition.

It would be recalled that Gaa Akanbi FC broke into the consciousness of National football after securing an infamous victory over ABS Ilorin FC in the semifinal of the Kwara FA/Flow FM Cup before losing 2-0 to Kwara United in the final.

Despite emerging as runners-up, the team has been applauded for its excellent performance and the potentials.

On its own part, the club described the feat as a major milestone, especially given its status as a community-based team operating without stable funding, sponsorship, or significant financial backing.

According to a statement signed by the club’s Head Coach and Founder, Bashir Abolarinwa, the achievement also marks the end of a nearly 30-year wait, as the team broke a long-standing jinx to secure a place in the tournament.

He noted that the qualification reflects the resilience, dedication, and passion of the players and technical crew, who have worked tirelessly despite limited resources.

However, the club expressed concern over the financial demands required to compete effectively on the national stage. It warned that without adequate funding and support, its ability to represent the state with pride and distinction could be affected.

As a result, Gaa Akanbi FC has called on well-meaning individuals, football stakeholders, corporate organisations, and prominent figures in Kwara State to support its campaign.

Amongst many other would be sponsors and philantropist, the club appeals to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as Senator Saliu Mustapha, Senator Sadiq Umar, Senator Lola Ashiru, Honourable Tolani Shagaya, Honourable Raheem Ajuloopin, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki, Engr. Femi Sanni Araba, Engr. Laide Ahmed and Engr. Bolakale Kawu to support their federation cup mission.


The club emphasised that timely support would not only aid its preparation but also enhance its chances of making Kwara State proud in one of Nigeria’s most prestigious football competitions.
