Crown FC midfielder Damilola Ajala has expressed immense joy after winning his first professional trophy following Crown FC’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over Shooting Stars to clinch the Oyo State FA Cup.
Both teams played 1-1 all draw in the regulation time before Crown triumphed 4-2 on penalties.
The young midfielder described the triumph as a defining moment in his career, noting that lifting the Oyo FA Cup represents both personal achievement and motivation for greater success in the future.
Crown FC edged past Shooting Stars in a keenly contested final that ended in a penalty shootout, sealing their status as champions of the state competition. The victory marked Ajala’s maiden silverware in the Nigeria Professional League circuit, a milestone he considers proof of his steady progress in the game.
Speaking after the victory, Ajala could not hide his excitement about winning his first title.
“I was elated because this is my first time winning the State FA Cup. This is my first trophy in the Nigeria professional league, and it is a testament that I’m on the right track and I can achieve a lot moving forward.
The goal of participating in any competition is to be crowned champions, and that is not short of my expectations in the National Federation Cup. Believing is the first step in achieving anything remarkable,” said Ajala who was subbed in 80th minute of the game.
Ajala brought in composure and balance into the match played at the Lekan Salami Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan.
The Oyo FA Cup triumph not only handed Crown FC a major state honour but also secured them qualification for the National Federation Cup, where Ajala has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to aim for further success.
For the Unilorin graduate, the victory signals the beginning of what he hopes will be a trophy-laden career, as he continues to build momentum and confidence on the professional stage.
