Yewa Academy founder, Promise David targets european stardom for players after impressive rise
Founder of Yewa Football Academy, Promise David Emmanuel, has expressed pride and excitement over the remarkable achievements recorded by Yewa FC within its first five months, describing the club’s early successes as proof that dedication and teamwork are yielding results.
Speaking in an interview following the academy’s recent milestones—including winning two trophies and securing international partnerships—David, a Canadian Nigerian-born footballer said the progress recorded in such a short period reflects the commitment of both players and technical staff.
“I’m honestly proud. What we’ve achieved in such a short time shows that the hard work on the pitch and behind the scenes is paying off,” he said.
“It’s exciting because you can feel the momentum building—results, performances, and the belief within the squad are all improving together. It makes you want to push even harder.”
Explaining the driving force behind the club’s rapid development, David noted that the achievements stem from collective determination and adherence to shared goals within the team.
“The motivation comes from a mix of things: the hunger to improve, the standards set by the club, and the desire to represent the badge properly,” he stated.
“Everyone—from players to coaches—has bought into the same vision. There’s also that internal competition within the squad; it keeps everyone sharp and striving to be better every day.”
Looking ahead, the academy founder revealed that Yewa FC’s long-term ambition is to nurture well-rounded footballers capable of thriving on the global stage, particularly in Europe.
“The long-term goal is to consistently develop top-level players—not just technically, but mentally and professionally. The Academy wants to build players who can step into Europe and make an impact,” he said.
Promise also charged players and coaches to remain disciplined and committed, stressing that the achievements recorded so far should serve as motivation rather than a point of complacency.
He said "Stay focused and don’t get comfortable. What we’ve done so far is just the beginning,” he advised.
“Keep working, keep learning, and trust the process. For players, it’s about discipline and consistency. For coaches, keep pushing us and holding us to high standards. If we all stay committed, there’s a lot more we can achieve together.”
Promise David currently ply his trade with Belgian top-flight club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise where he is currently making waves.
