Coach Aliyu Zubair Mourns El-Kanemi Warriors Chairman Ibrahim Maina Mustapha

Former El-Kanemi Warriors F.C. head coach, Aliyu Zubair, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the club’s Chairman, Ibrahim Maina Mustapha, describing him as a hardworking, gentle, and highly committed administrator.

Ibrahim Maina Mustapha passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital following a protracted illness. His death has thrown the El-Kanemi Warriors family and the entire football community into mourning.

Reacting to the sad news, Coach Zubair paid glowing tribute to the late chairman, noting that his leadership, dedication, and unwavering support were instrumental to the club’s recent successes. 

Zubair, who guided El-Kanemi Warriors to promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and also led the team to victory in the President Federation Cup, said the late Mustapha was a pillar of stability and progress.

“Ibrahim Maina Mustapha was a hardworking and gentle administrator who was fully committed to the growth of El-Kanemi Warriors. 

His passion for the club and his fatherly support gave us the confidence to achieve great milestones, including our promotion to the NPFL and winning the President Federation Cup,” Zubair said.

He added that the chairman’s death is a painful loss not only to the club but to Nigerian football at large, emphasizing that his legacy of dedication and service will not be forgotten.

The club, in an official statement signed by its Media Officer, confirmed that the chairman died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and stated that burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

Coach Zubair prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, friends, and the entire El-Kanemi Warriors community the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
