ABS Ilorin FC Appoints Ogundeji Joel as Interim Head Coach

Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC has named Ogundeji Joel as the club’s Interim Head Coach following the mutual departure of former handler, Coach Yusuf Salihu.

The announcement comes in the wake of a managerial change aimed at maintaining stability within the camp and sustaining the club’s momentum in the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

Coach Salihu, who was appointed on September 9, 2025, led ABS Ilorin FC through the first stanza of the campaign, guiding the team to three victories and four defeats to place fourth on the Conference C standings.

In a bid to ensure continuity and avoid a leadership vacuum, the management confirmed the elevation of Ogundeji, who is not a stranger to the ABS system, having previously worked closely with former Cameroonian tactician, Tony Encho, during his spell at the club.

The club expressed confidence in Ogundeji’s technical competence, familiarity with the team setup, and ability to steady the squad as they continue their campaign.

His appointment is expected to bring renewed direction and tactical stability as ABS Ilorin FC navigates this transitional phase.

Coach Joel has boasts of a rich coaching credentials including being the Head Coach of Ogbomoso United,  Olukismet FC of Ekiti, Oye Olohun Travels and Tours FC of Saki amongst other leadership roles.

The Ogbomoso-born Coach is also a graduate of Osun State Polytechnic Iree.

ABS Ilorin FC Head of Media, Tosh Michaels, signed the statement announcing the development.
