Abdu Maikaba has stressed that the #GusauAhlanCup25 has provided a competitive platform to test his side's newly acquired players.
He made this known shortly after his side defeated Ben FC of Jos in their opening game of the competition.
"I'm very happy with the performances of my boys most especially in the first half because the match play is to deny our opponents the ball, to frustrate them and the little chances we had we try and scored".
"And then defensively we defended very well, I am very happy about that because we faced a very good and experienced side in Ben FC".
"I am happy that we have won and hopefully we will improve in the next game".
"This is also an avenue to test some of the new players we have recruited, if at the end we finished with seven new players who impressed during this tournament that means we are on the right track".
"This competition has been getting more attention every season and you see even as of last edition in Jos, after that edition Lafia was announced as the venue of the fourth edition, that showed a sign of good organisation and you can see how the three games that have been played went, how peaceful the atmosphere was, the teams are all playing well and this is an avenue for all the teams to improve themselves".
"Our target is to see some of our new players and then blend the team, he concluded''.
A first half Lewis Dadong brace was all Wikki Tourists needed to get the maximum points despite a late goal from Daniel Adoga.
