Flying Eagles Coach Aliyu Zubairu Graces Borno State Division One League Final

The final of the Borno State Division One League witnessed a historic moment as Coach Aliyu Zubairu, current head coach of Nigeria's U-20 national team,the Coach graced the occasion as a special guest. The event, held at the El-Kanemi Warriors FC Stadium in Maiduguri, marked the first of its kind in the state and drew widespread attention from football enthusiasts across Borno State and neighboring Yobe State.

Aliyu Zubairu, a former Technical Adviser of El-Kanemi Warriors FC, was instrumental in the club's recent successes, including winning the prestigious President Federation Cup in 2024 and guiding the team back to the Nigerian Premier League. His accomplishments led to his national appointment with the Flying Eagles, further solidifying his reputation as one of Nigeria’s top football tacticians.

Speaking during an interview at the finals, Zubairu expressed his commitment to grassroots football development in Borno State. He announced plans to organize a comprehensive coaching seminar for local coaches across the state upon his return from the FIFA U-20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Chile.

“I am deeply connected to the football community in Borno, and I intend to give back by empowering our coaches with modern techniques and knowledge. Once I’m back from the World Cup, In Sha Allah, we’ll hold the seminar as well as the final of the competition organized in my name by Ade Regular,” he said.

The final was part of a larger youth development initiative tagged “Aliyu Zubairu Kiddies U-15 Tournament,” contested by 16 youth teams. The tournament is aimed at identifying and nurturing young football talent across the state.

In addition to attending the final, Coach Zubairu was also honored with the opportunity to present an Award of Excellence to Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Babale member representing the good people of Kwaya kusar local government at the Borno State house of Assembly and Chairman house Committee on Youths and Sports development, poverty alliviation.

Coach Aliyu Zubairu was cheered by thousands of El-kanemi Warriors Fc Maiduguri before he departed.
