FC Zeus seeks redemption in Pro Route League campaign after last season's heartbreaking loss

FC Zeus seeks redemption in new Pro Route League campaign after last season's heartbreaking loss

Despite being one of the most feared teams in the inaugural campaign, FC Zeus’ season came crashing down at the very end.

The team lost to La Planet FC in their last game via a last minute penalty,  thus losing the trophy to eventual winners, Kwara Football Academy.

Head Coach of the team, Muritada Oloso in an interview with Adeshina Muiz Opeyemi said that the pain wasn’t about losing the trophy—it was about watching his team give everything and still fall short due to circumstances outside their control.

He said “You prepare all season. You work, you sacrifice, you trained morning and night, and when the moment comes, it’s not taken away by the opponent—but by poor officiating. That hurts the most,” he said with visible emotion.

Oloso said his team has put the loss behind them and are now focused on the new season.

“We didn’t dwell on the loss. We regrouped. We celebrated our achievements. We reminded the boys that the journey doesn’t end here. It continues.”

The gaffer also noted that the team is admired for playing attractive football and are ready to continue in that regard.

Asked about what the fans can expect this time, Coach Muritada didn’t hold back, he said “We are coming back with more hunger. The boys are motivated. We’ve worked on key areas. We are aware of our strengths and also of what failed us last time. We want to correct that.”

With four new teams joining the league and competition heating up, the margin for error is even thinner.

Oloso added “It’s going to be tougher. But we’ve got the character. This is a new chapter—and we’re writing it with everything we’ve got.”

As the clock ticks toward kick off of the new season,Coach Oloso Muritada Abiodun and his boys are hoping to correct their past mistakes and do well in the new season.
