Flying Eagles Head Coach Aliyu Zubair, Chelsea Star, Adarabioyo Bag Africa Illustrious Award of Excellence 



The Head Coach of the Nigeria's Flying Eagles, Coach Aliyu Zubair has bagged Africa Illustrious awards of excellence and special recognition.

The award, which is one of the reputable and biggest corporate awards, was presented to the gaffer on Wednesday in Lagos.

Notably, the Nigerian-British footballer, Tosin Adarabioyo of Chelsea FC was also presented with the same award.

The award of excellence and special recognition for Coach Aliyu is coming on the heels of his accomplishments and contributions to the development of football in Nigeria.

Reacting to the development,  Coach Aliyu described the award as a motivation to continue to do more in his quest to continue to serve the country and deliver excellence in his endeavours.

"I am very happy to receive this award.It will definitely spur us to do more in service to our country and society. I thank the organisers for the recognition and I truly appreciate them" an elated Coach Aliyu said.

The gaffer who is expected to lead the Nigeria U-20 team to the World Cup in Chile later in September.

It would be recalled that the Flying Eagles team under the tutelage of Coach Zubair won the WAFU-B championship last year and won bronze medal at the last U20 AFCON in Egypt. 

The experienced gaffer also recently led the Flying Eagles to a second place finish in the WAFU-B U20 Boys Cup.

Coach Aliyu's impact does not only  end on the pitch. His dedication and commitment towards societal development also saw him trained over 50 grassroots coaches recently in his home state of Kwara.

The Aliyu Zubairu Football Coaching Seminar alongside an U15 Kiddies Cup he organised in a bid to discover young football talents were part of his broader effort in giving back to the society.
