Coach Aliyu Zubairu U-15 Cup: Teams battle for glory as final holds on Sunday

Anticipation is building as Coach Aliyu Zubairu U-15 Kiddies Cup grand finale will hold tomorrow Sunday,July 27, 2025.

Future Stars and Gaa Akanbi will lock horns in the final match scheduled for 4pm at Kwara Football Academy pitch. 

Future Stars who claimed a bronze medal in the inaugural edition will aim to give better performance to go home with coveted trophy. 

Meanwhile, debutants Gaa Akanbi Kids who have been outstanding in the competition so far would have to prove their mettle against their star-studded opponents. 

In the third place match, reigning champions Barca Kiddies will slug it out with Gidado FA for the bronze medal. 

The third place playoff game is scheduled for 3pm at the same venue. 

The competition, organized in honour of the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, Aliyu Zubairu, featured a
total number of 20 teams with over 400 kids footballers.

The tournament, which is one of the broader efforts of Coach Aliyu Zubairu in giving back to the society aims to discover emerging football talents.

Meanwhile, the final match on Sunday will be preceded by a football coaching seminar billed to hold in the morning.

The duo of Coach Aliyu Zubairu and Coach Gbenga Ogunbote will lead both theory and practical sessions in training grassroots coaches on modern football techniques.

Maiduguri-born Tahur Maigana makes Flying Eagles AFCON squad One of the talents to look out for in the upcoming U20 AFCON is Tahir Maigana The young player who was born and bred in Maiduguri, Borno State, is plying his trade with Wireless Football Club based in Abuja, Nigeria.  The natural left footer is a genius and will wow the spectators during the tournament. Recall that Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri will lead the U20 team to the AFCON in Egypt.
