Nigerian Journalists Rejoice at Taiwo Awoniyi's Recovery


Sports journalists covering the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta have expressed joy and relief following Taiwo Awoniyi's return to full health.


The Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles striker had a harrowing experience after an injury against Leicester City, which required surgery and an induced coma.

Prominent journalists Busayo Olowo-Okere, Charles Ogundiya, and Joan Iwuchukwu praised Awoniyi's resilience, faith, and commitment. Olowo-Okere said, "I'm elated to see Taiwo Awoniyi again. He has always been a great supporter of sports journalists. I wish him full recovery and a stronger comeback."

Joan Iwuchukwu described Awoniyi as "humble, respectful, and generous," highlighting his positive impact beyond football. Meanwhile, Ogundiya urged European club managers to prioritize player health, criticizing Nottingham Forest's manager, Nuno Espírito Santo, for delaying Awoniyi's substitution.
