'Keep your head up': President Tinubu congratulates Flying Eagles on World Cup ticket 

....as team settles down in Cairo ahead third place final clash 




Nigeria's President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to the Coach Aliyu Zubairu-led Flying Eagles of Nigeria team for securing the FIFA U-20 World ticket.

The congratulatory message was contained in an X post on the official handle of the President after their semifinal loss to South Africa on Thursday.

Recall that the team became the first African team to pick the FIFA World Cup ticket after defeating the defending champions of the U20 AFCON, Senegal 3-1 on penalties in the quarterfinal match earlier in the week.

He said " I congratulate our U20 men's football team, the Flying Eagles,for their  terrific run at the AFCON U20 2025 tournament in Egypt and qualfor the FIFA U20 World Cup later this year in Chile.

"You did Nigeria proud despite tonight's semi-final loss! Keep your head up"

The message from the President is expected to be a moral booster for the team as they prepare for the third place final game against Host Nation, Egypt on Sunday.

The Flying Eagles on Friday arrived at the Guard Hotel in Cairo ahead of the Sunday encounter.

The team is expected to have their final  training later on Saturday for the bronze medal-staked game.
