LA’ Planet FC edge Barrier in NLO season opener

LA’ Planet FC began their 2025 Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Barriers FC at a lively venue in Ilorin. The tightly contested encounter was settled by a moment of brilliance late in the first half when Akomolafe Peter calmly finished off a well-worked team move, slotting home from Teslim Musa’s intelligent cut-back.

Despite being the away team, LA’ Planet came out with purpose and confidence, dominating early proceedings and creating a flurry of chances. However, wasteful finishing meant they couldn’t double their advantage before the break.

Barriers FC responded with urgency in the second half, piling consistent pressure on the LA’ Planet backline. Their attacking waves forced the visitors to dig deep, but the defense, marshaled by a disciplined and composed back four, stood tall and resilient.

The midfield battle was intense, with LA’ Planet showing tactical discipline to break up play and control possession at crucial moments. Goalkeeper Yusuf Ajibola also played a pivotal role, pulling off a few key saves to preserve the narrow lead.

As the final whistle blew, the determination and cohesion of LA’ Planet FC were evident. The result not only gives them a perfect start to the season but also sets a strong statement of intent to their rivals.

With this opening win, LA’ Planet FC will look to maintain their momentum and continue building chemistry as the campaign progresses.
