Dignitaries storm Seyi Tinubu Cityzens Cup opening ceremony in Kwara, as Mogaji performs official kick-off



The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, earlier on Saturday, April 12, 2025, performed the official kick-off for  the Seyi Tinubu Cityzens Cup amid thrills and excitements.

The official kick-off opened the floodgate of actions at Budooke primary school football field in Asa local government area of Kwara State,where all the first round matches were expected to take place. 

Mogaji was joined by the convener of the tournament, Aliu Olamilekan Bello(AOB); Lawal Moyosore Tijani, CEO of Steady Globa Investment; Olaide Ahli, who is the President of Kwara Development Group (KDG) and Architect Olubunmi Dickalo during the kick off.

Other dignitaries at the opening ceremony include the Chairman of Asa Local Council;  Alhaji Mujeeb Ibrahim Erubu; President of Gidado Football Academy, Alhaji Afase Babatunde Salihu; Alhaji Ahmed Abdallah, the Special Assistant to Kwara State Football Association Chairman on Technical matters and Ambassador Bolaji Mogaji-Nda.

Fans and supporters alike all trooped out en masse to witness the matches. It's a long stretch of engagement as five games would be played on Satuday, while the remaining three matches of the first round go down on Sunday,April 13.

Maiduguri-born Tahur Maigana makes Flying Eagles AFCON squad One of the talents to look out for in the upcoming U20 AFCON is Tahir Maigana The young player who was born and bred in Maiduguri, Borno State, is plying his trade with Wireless Football Club based in Abuja, Nigeria.  The natural left footer is a genius and will wow the spectators during the tournament. Recall that Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri will lead the U20 team to the AFCON in Egypt. Coach Aliyu has earlier won the heart of Nigerians after leading the team to WAFU-B championship back in October last year and he's banking on their support again to win the AFCON
