Asa Football Council Chairman, Alhaji Mujeeb Erubu excited over winning Sardauna Cup


The Chairman of Asa Local Football Council, Alhaji Mujeeb Ibrahim Erubu has expressed his delight over the victory of his team in the maiden edition of the Sardauna U-16 Football Competition.

The Asa LG Team defeated their opponents from Offa 5-4 on penalties on Wednesday in the final match played at Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of Major General Agbasika Innih Stadium after playing 1-1 in the regulation time.

Speaking to Journalists after the match, he described the victory as a testament to the rich talents that abound in the local government, and huge support the team received from the executive chairman of the Local government and major stakeholders.

Erubu who has been putting in efforts to raise the bar of football at the local level since his assumption of office as the Chairman of the football council said he will not rest on his oars.

"I am very excited for winning this tournament. I said during an interview at the beginning of the tournament that we are going to win, and here we are with the trophy. 

"Since my assumption of office as Chairman of the Asa football council, we have been going round to scout for players across the local government and bring them together for quality training under our certified coaches.

"I commend the boys for their great performance and the technical crew for their efforts, I am happy that our preparations have earned us this trophy.

The Chairman further added that the football council will organise more tournaments and also give every categories of footballers in the local government an opportunity to thrive through various developmental programmes.
