Ifelodun LG Chairman, Femi Yusuf confident of winning Sardauna Cup 


The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, Lawyer Femi Yusuf, has disclosed that preparations are in top gear for the 2025 Sardauna Cup.

As part of these efforts, a football tournament is scheduled to take place on January 19 across wards in the council to scout and select skilled players to represent Ifelodun at the Sardauna Cup, which will hold in Ilorin from January 27 to February 5.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the Sardauna Cup held at the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) conference room on Friday, Lawyer Yusuf highlighted his administration's commitment to sports development. He revealed that he set up a sports committee immediately upon assuming office to enhance grassroots sports activities in Ifelodun.

“We are fully ready for the Sardauna Cup. In fact, we are hosting a football tournament in my local government as a platform to prepare for the competition,” he remarked.

The Sardauna Cup is aimed at celebrating Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his significant strides in developing the sports sector in Kwara State.

 Ifelodun has been drawn in Group C alongside Edu, Ekiti, and Oyun local governments. Lawyer Yusuf expressed optimism about Ifelodun’s chances, emphasizing their readiness to excel in the competition.

"I am also using this medium to warn all other local governments that they can't stop us because we are going to win the trophy" he concluded
