Final day drama in Pro Route League as teams battle for trophy on Sunday


Thrills, excitement, and expectations take over as the end of the  maiden editon of the Pro Route League go down this weekend in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital.

The maiden season of the league will climax with tough matches of week 14 fixtures scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025, in the fight for the coveted trophy.

For the title,it's going to be a fight to finish between FC Zeus and Kwara Football Academy boys who closely follow each other on the league table with their sights fixated to emerge the  champions.

So far, Zeus has garnered 30 points from 13 matches played, while the KFA boys had 29 points from the same games. The high points of the final day will be the matches involving KFA vs. Barrier FA and FC Zeus up against La Planet Sport Academia scheduled for 12:45pm and 2:45pm respectively.

What could also be considered as a fight for honour without prize will  be the fixtures involving Skillz vs. Unicorn and City Boys against House of Prayers which are scheduled for earlier time of 8:30am and 10:45am respectively.

Speaking on the development, the Chief Operating Officer of the League, Ibrahim Zubair, noted that plans have been concluded to ensure a befitting end of the league.

"We are ready for the final day. It's been a long ride for everyone, and we are proud of all the teams that participated in this maiden edition, " he said.

Zubair added that the main ceremony, which will include trophy presentation to the winner,  awards to outstanding players and officials will take place after the last game of the league on Sunday at Kwara Football Academy main pitch.

He added that major stakeholders in the sports sector are expected to grace the final event on Sunday.

Pro Route League is an independent and private league initiated by Non Pariel Sports, a sports organisation and marketing company. Amongst other things, the league seeks to provide opportunity for players to showcase their skills, get exposed, and maximise their talents to become professional footballers.

The league partnership with the foremost African scouting platform, Afriskaut, is aimed at exposing the players in the league to top scouts across the world through the Afriskaut scouting platform.

Top football personalities who have endorsed the league include the Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles of Nigeria Striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, Head Coach of the Flying Eagles of Nigeria and Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors, Coach Aliyu Zubairu and a host of others.
