Royal endorsement: Ooni of Ife throws weight behind inaugural edition of Adron Games in Ibadan

The inaugural edition of the Adron Games has received a huge boost following the endorsement of the games by the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

The revered monarch proclaimed his support for the Games during a courtesy call by the Adron Group on his ancient palace in Ife on Sunday.

The Adron Group, led by its Chairman/CEO, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, was well received at the palace on a mid pomp and pageantry.

Adron Games, a multi-sport event, is organised for Nigerian workers both in the public and private sectors.
The first of its kind event, which is referred to as the "National Workers Olympics," will bring together over 10,000 participants across the country.

The sporting event is billed to be held in Ibadan in November with over ten sports on the card to compete in by participants.
While receiving the Adron Group teams, Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, commended them for the initiative and expressed his total support for the project.

The monarch, who revealed that he is a staunch supporter of Adron Group, lauded its strides toward empowerment and its effort in leveraging the Nigerian economy to help the citizens, especially in the provision of affordable homes.

While expressing his delight at the event, given its potential to unify Nigerian workers, he believes that the Adron Games will further create an ecosystem for Nigerian workers to synergise for the development of the country.

Earlier in his own remarks, the Chairman of Adron Group, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, congratulated the monarch on the occasion of his 50th birthday, which was celebrated recently.

While describing the monarch as a symbol of unity, strength, and wisdom, he acknowledged and commended his efforts in promoting unity, peace, and cultural heritage, which have inspired millions, especially the youth.

An advocate of youth integration and inclusiveness, through education, entrepreneurship, or sports, Ooni of Ife has consistently provided a platform for millions of young people to discover their potential and become leaders of tomorrow.

While revealing that the courtesy call was aimed at seeking his royal blessing and endorsement for the historic event, he stated that the monarch will be the royal father for the Adron Games 2024.

"Your endorsement of this event will be a tremendous motivator, not only for our youth but for corporate organisations across the country to rally in support of this noble cause.

"We believe that with your royal blessing, the Adron Games 2024 will continue to set new standards for youth sports development in Nigeria and across the globe and will attract even more participation and support from every corner of the nation, Nigeria," the Adron Group CEO stated.

The 7th Edition of Adron Games, which has been dubbed the National Workers Sports Festival, is the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria.

Having secured endorsements from ex-internationals like Daniel Amokachi and other notable sports personalities, the event is poised to serve as a leveller for workers across the nation to also enhance their physical and mental wellbeing.
