Lafiagi Football Academy receives Kwara State government support

The Kwara State Government, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahaman Abdul Rasaq, has reiterated her commitment to support private football academies in the state to compliment the high-profile Kwara Football Academy.

Honourable Abdullahi Lade, who represented the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Magaji, assured the people of Lafiagi and its environs that private partnership principles will be administered to encourage private individuals and clubs wishing to develop football, especially at the grassroots level.

Lade, who represents Kwara North at commission, commended the organisers for the novel idea, adding that talented players discovered from trials will have the opportunity to play on the big stage.


He urged the players to be focused and express discipline throughout the exercise.

Earlier in his address, the General Manager LAFIAGI FOOTBALL ACADEMY Mallam Zubair Usman Abdulkadri commended the Kwara state government for creating an enabling environment for such a venture. He assured the players and their officials that the academy will be run professionally in line with FIFA/CAF/NFF standards.

The well-attended program was witnessed by traditional rulers led by the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Kawu, represented by Alhaji Abulraheem Alfa Mohammed, who is also the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Emir, Ambassador Shehu Ndanusa Usman, the honourable commissioner for youth development who is also from Lafiagi and a strong supporter of the academy, Edu Local Government football council Mallam Malik Manzuma  who stood for the Kwara state football association Chairman Mallam Idris Abdulahi Musa Turaya, Seasoned Sports Commentator, and Sportspro News publisher Bayour Issah

Others include Ahmed Usman BabaKano, another indegene of Lafiagi and Senior Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRaman Abdul Rasaq on Non-Governmental Organisation, and former Golden Eaglet goalkeeper of China ‘85 fame Dele Abubakar MON, who represents Kwara Central at the Kwara State Sports Commission, watched the formal inauguration of LAFIAGI FOOTBALL ACADEMY at the newly refurbished stadium in Lafiagi.
