Kwara APFAN Administrative Director, Bello-Lasoro others attend NOC Sport Medicine seminar on Basic life support, heart saving techniques 




The Administrative Director of Association of Proprietors of football Academies of Nigeria (APFAN) in Kwara State Bello-Lasoro Abubakar Ola was part of the 60 selected sports administrators who participated in the 3-day Sport Medicine Seminar on Heart Saver and Basic Life support.
Bello-Lasoro who is also a Director of Agarawu Soccer Academy and a member of Nigeria Football Coaches Association( NFCA) Kwara State chapter described the seminar as an important one for all sports administrator. 

He noted that the seminar availed the participants opportunity to learn about basic and critical aspects of life saving methods and ways.

"The seminar has empowered us with basic knowledge in life saving so that we can add value to sporting activities" 

The seminar, which  ended on 10th October, 2024 was held at EHCON in Lagos State was attended by top sports administrators from Universities, State directorate of sports and other critical stakeholders.
The theme of the seminar was "Saving Lives in critical moments" with focus on recognizing heart attack and cardiac arrest.

The trio of Doctor Olufemi Onasanya, Dr Akin Poopola and Dr Dorath Nzekwe gave comprehensive teachings across the thematic areas of the seminar  

The NOC Sports medical and scientific commission in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity initiated the three day medical training for sport medical, Coach, and other stakeholders to have the basic knowledge to save lives during their various activities.

Dr Bojuwole Adebukola, a Member Medical and Scientific Commission of NOC mandated the participants to go back to their various sports councils and organizations to train others.

He said, "the NOC objectives for this training is for us in sporting to be able to save lives of athletes during games, training and not limited to sporting center but everywhere there are emergency"

Alongside the APFAN director, two other sports administrators who participated at the seminar from Kwara includes Yusuf Durosinlohun, the Technical Director of Squash at the Kwara State Sports commission and Chief, Mrs Abimbola Olaoye Principal of Junior Secondary School Okuta JSS and the  Sports Director ANCOPPS. 


Earlier, 30 participants were certified Heart Saver while the second course 30 participants graduated as BLS to save lives out-of-Hospital (sporting centers, stadium, home etc) and in-Hospital emergency.

At the end of the programme,  60 participants were issued a certificate by the America Heart Association.

The NOC 4th Vice President Bisi Joseph, Dr Bojuwole Adebukola; member Sport Medicine and Scientific of NOC, Project manager Deborah Chidiobi and her Assistant Adeleye Fisayo are among the Nigeria Olympic Committee official on ground for the 3-days events.
