Ibrahim Olalekan-Alonge strikes as Flying Eagles beat Niger Republic to reach WAFU-B final



One of the heroes for the Nigeria Flying Eagles team on Sunday night was Ibrahim Olalekan Alonge who struck the last goal for Nigeria to qualify for the final of the WAFU B tournament. 

Nigeria came from behind to beat the Junior Mena's of Niger Republic 3-1. Clinton Jeptha had earlier scored a brace to put Flying Eagles on a good stead in the game.

Alonge, who was introduced towards the end of the game scored Nigeria's third goal dying minute to seal off the game for the Coach Aliyu Zubair's led side. 

Alonge, who is a La Planet Sports Academia's graduate was invited to the Flying Eagles team from Central Academy of Abuja. 

He expressed his delight at scoring his first major goal for Nigeria. 

"I am happy to have scored my first goal in the tournament and for Nigeria my country. I feel proud about this moment and I look forward to doing more" he said. 

Alonge was part of the Flying Eagles team that represented Nigeria at the last African Games in Ghana. 

The victory against Niger Republic also means that Nigeria have qualified for the U20 AFCON which is taking place in South Africa next year.
