Gaa Akanbi FC are the champions of Jafak Cup


Gaa Akanbi FC over the weekend made history again after winning the third edition of the Jafak Cup. 

The Coach Bashir Abolarinwa led side defeated NLO side, Abraysports FC 1-0 to win the fiercely contested tournament. 

The winner was scored  by Afeez Ibrahim who also won the best player of the tournament following his wonderful perfomance.

"It's been an impressive year for us so far. The boys really gave it their all and we are happy about the result" said Coach Bashir

He added that the team will continue to improve on its achievements, noting that the momentum must be sustained. 

The team which celebrated its third year anniversary last month has become a household name in Kwara State.

Not only geared towards youth empowerment,the team has also raised the standard of football at the grassroots by giving a platform for talented footballers to take their career to the next level.

Gaa Akanbi's safe hands, Afeez Kolawole also won the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

The club however appreciates the fans, Sages Management, Bespoke Luxury for their support.

The Jafak Cup trophy was Gaa Akanbi's second trophy in 2024 and 16th in the history of the club.

Maiduguri-born Tahur Maigana makes Flying Eagles AFCON squad One of the talents to look out for in the upcoming U20 AFCON is Tahir Maigana The young player who was born and bred in Maiduguri, Borno State, is plying his trade with Wireless Football Club based in Abuja, Nigeria.  The natural left footer is a genius and will wow the spectators during the tournament. Recall that Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri will lead the U20 team to the AFCON in Egypt.
