Kay Cup Climaxes on Friday as Barrier SA Tackles Dohz SA in final for ultimate prize 





The ultimate prize for this year's edition of Kay Cup football championship will be up for grab on Friday , December 22, when Barrier Sports Academy takes on Dohz Sports Academy in the final match.

Both teams had shown class in their semi-final encounters by defeating their opponents convincingly.
For Barrier, who are now through to the final for the third time from the five editions that have held, they ease past Gaa Akanbi FC with 3 goals to nothing, while Dohz also thrashed La Planet SA 4-1 to book  a final spot.

The Kwara Football Academy pitch will be agog on Friday when both teams lock horns to scoop the increased stake of the Kay Cup prize money.

Earlier, the organizers had announced an increment in the prize money with the winner now set to get 120,000, first runner up 80,000 and third place winner getting 50,000.

Speaking ahead of the final, the coordinator of the tournament, Kolawole Jeremiah Coker commended all the participating teams for their good conduct through the competition.

He noted that the final will not be short of interesting soccer affairs with top footballer stakeholders now invited to witness the game.

"I am really impressed with the performance of all the teams. The competition will climax tomorrow with a top class game and we have invited top football stakeholders to be part of the event.

Marazzina Coker as he is fondly called thanked the sponsors, Olukayode Atoyebi Foundation for supporting the tournament.

Now in its 5th edition, the Kay Cup football championship was initiated to honour the memory of late football enthusiasts and philanthropist, Olukayode Atoyebi.

The competition, has for many reasons become a hub for discovering football talents, while also helping them to sharpen their skills. 


The final match between Barrier SA and Dohz will begin by 2:30pm while the third place final between Gaa Akanbi FC and La Planet Sport Academia will be held at 12:30pm- all at the Kwara Football Academy.
