YSFON National U16:Kwara team poised for glory, face Oyo in first match


The Kwara YSFON Stars, a selected Under 16 Boys from the grassroots teams in Kwara State departed Ilorin yesterday Monday  27th November, 2023 to represent Kwara State at the YSFON national Under-16 Boys soccer tournament at Ilaji International Sports Resort, Ibadan, Oyo state.

The Kwara Ambassadors after screening exercise this morning was placed in group C alongside Lagos and Oyo. 

The tournament which is both youth competition and scouting programs will have in attendance scouts from Europe to be part of the game till the weekend when the tournament will be coming to a close.

Group A has Ilaji FC, Katsina boys and Ondo FA, group B has Sanusi Boys, Ekiti FA and Ogun Boys, group D features Osun, Kebbi and Kaduna State.

The Kwara team, led by Coach Oniye Muhammed and Coach Abdullahi Suleiman Kayode will begin their quest for glory tomorrow when they face Oyo State at 1pm.

Maiduguri-born Tahur Maigana makes Flying Eagles AFCON squad One of the talents to look out for in the upcoming U20 AFCON is Tahir Maigana The young player who was born and bred in Maiduguri, Borno State, is plying his trade with Wireless Football Club based in Abuja, Nigeria.  The natural left footer is a genius and will wow the spectators during the tournament. Recall that Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri will lead the U20 team to the AFCON in Egypt.
